Burgundy Payne
Polk County High School’s graduation will take place Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

Valedictorian Burgundy Payne and Salutatorian Duncan Coffey will be addressing their fellow graduates.

Payne is the daughter of John and Charlotte Payne. She has been a member of a number of clubs including Beta Club, Pep, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society and Club 21.

Payne served in several leadership positions including president of the school’s Future Farmers of America club, the co-founder of Project Rooms of Hope and co-craftleader of Creative Arts Talent Society.

She will be going to pharmacy school at Mercer University to become a pharmacist.

Coffey is the son of Sam and Cheryl Coffey and a member of First Baptist of Benton. He played football and baseball all four years of his high school career.

He was awarded the Super Sophomore award and was named All-District in baseball his junior and senior years. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Pep Club.

He plans on attending the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. to study engineering.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
