She was born on July 8, 1924, to Hoyt L. Lillard and Grace Blair Lillard of Benton.
She attended Virginia Intermont in the Tennessee town of Bristol. Upon completing her preparatory education, she attended Gulfport College for two years prior to completing her undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville.
She married Clyde D. Brown in 1946 after he had completed his military service in World War II, including three years in a prisoner of war camp in Germany.
They had two children: Mary Elizabeth (Beth) and C. David Brown II.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1979; and her daughter, Beth, in 1980.
She was active in the Boynton Beach community for many years, including teaching first grade at St. Joseph's elementary school for more than 10 years.
She was an active participant in the YMCA, the Tree Hut and the University Women's Club in Boynton Beach. One of her lifelong passions was travel and meeting people throughout the world.
While Clyde was in the military, they lived and traveled extensively through Europe. After retirement, she continued traveling throughout the world, visiting all seven continents and bringing memories and memorabilia from all.
She is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Wanda; and her two grandchildren: Teresa and Kristin, all of Orlando, Fla.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. with the funeral at 11 a.m. at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, located at the corner of U.S. Hwy. 1 and N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach.
Burial will follow at Boynton Beach Memorial Park.
