A touching essay written by veterinarian Dr. Bart Bain of Visiting Pet Vet and his wife, Chrissy, has been an inspiration to my family this year.

On this Christmas Day, we would like to share their thoughtful message with two-legged and four-legged friends everywhere.

“Angels in Disguise”

Do you believe in angels? Have you ever really thought of the similarities between angels and our beloved friends with four legs and a tail?

Aren’t they simply angels in disguise with hidden halos and wings?

Have you ever had a pet that knew you didn’t feel well or knew you were having a bad day?

Have you ever had a pet who protected you from danger?

Our four-legged friends give us comfort in our time of need, make us laugh and give us joy.

They provide healing by showing us unconditional love, and protect us by constantly being on guard for our safety.

Have you ever thought of your pet as an angel that helps during your time of need?

The Bible tells us in Psalms 91:11: “For He shall give His angels charge over they in all they ways ...”

Dr. Bain and Chrissy conclude by expressing their deep appreciation to “all who provide their pets with the tender, loving care that all our four-legged angels love more than anything else in this world.”

To all two-legged friends and four-legged angels everywhere, a million paws up for a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year brimming over with tender, loving care.

Special paws up to Cleveland Animal Shelter officers Hugh Gladden, Peanut and Brig; Charles and Sue Bolick; Hans and Annette Hadland; Bob and Janice Tate;

Bob and Joanne Berger; Richard and Kathy Erwin; Cathy Blocker; Sally Pare; Gary Hicks; Irene Clark; Richard and Nancy Hughes; and all who have adopted a shelter pet and saved a precious life.
