Phillip Preston Schoate, 59, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in a Chattanooga health care facility after a longstanding illness.

He was born on April 15, 1953, in Dearborn, Mich., to the late Laura Alma and Lawrence William Schoate. He was a 1972 graduate of Bradley Central High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from Lee University and attended the School of Theology.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked at Beaulieu of America in Dalton, Ga. He married the late Regina Yvonne Schoate in 1978 and was a resident of the Kinser Road area for over 20 years. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended North Cleveland Church of God.

In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Schoate.

He is survived by a son, Daniel Schoate; brothers: David Schoate and wife, Dawn, and Johnny Schoate, all of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Autumn Cooper; grandchild, Jesse Cooper; two nephews: Chris and Jimmy Schoate; niece, Heather Schoate; and many other uncles, aunts and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Barnett officiating.

Interment will follow in Moores Chapel Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday the funeral home.
