Phyllis Marie Winton, 56, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in a local hospital.
She attended St. Elmo Methodist Church in Georgetown, and also other various churches in the area.
She was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Westfield.
She was formerly employed by Duracell of Cleveland. She was a caregiver and provided for many friends and family as well as managing many financial and administrative tasks for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Winton Jr.; and two brothers: Carl W. Westfield and Robert L. Westfield.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Winton; and one daughter, Kelley (Morrow) Mack, all of Athens; one brother, Leon Franklin (Tiffany) Westfield of Georgetown; three grandchildren: Demicha Malone of Etowah, Jarah and Jada Mack, both of Athens; one sister-in-law, Mattie Craig of Athens; one god-daughter, Navaeh Burnette of Charleston; special friends: Shirley Morgan and Judy Parks; four uncles: Thomas (Faye) Thompson of Georgetown, Calvin Thompson of Athens, William (Linda) Thompson of Etowah and Lester Westfield of Cleveland; five aunts: Mary Winton of Athens, Madra Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., Teresa Huff of Fayetteville, N.C., Grace (Sherman) McCleary of Charleston and Frances Arnold of Cleveland; and special cousins: Robin (Freddy) Fletcher of Cleveland and Judy Winton of Knoxville.
The funeral will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at noon at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Athens with the Rev. Vant Hardaway officiating and the Rev. Leuty McDermott delivering the eulogy.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 11 a.m. until noon.
Interment will follow at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens.
