Real estate broker Mike Graves, of Georgetown, was one of the residents who successfully spoke in May against rezoning 223 acres along Georgetown Road from Forestry/Agriculture/Residential to General Industrial. The rezoning request was recommended for approval by the planning commission, but the Bradley County Planning Commission later denied the request.
Chairman Tony Young retained his position as did vice chairman Mel Griffith and secretary Lisa Webb.
The seven commissioners unanimously passed the only two action items on the agenda that included final approval of Eagle Lake Unit 4 and a zoning change request by Rickey Brooks.
The plat for Eagle Lake subdivision, located on Frontage Road, was passed without opposition. The rezoning request for property located at 647 Urbane Road, was also approved after Danny Lee urged commissioners to vote against the request because Urbane Road is too small for existing residential and truck traffic.
The Bradley County Commission will make the final decision on Aug. 1.
