TELLICO PLAINS — After a tough weekend spent in tournament play at Baylor, the Lady Wildcats were able to carry on and get the win over Tellico Plains.

The Lady Bears got on the board first with one run, but Polk County was able to even things up in the top of the third.

By the end of the seventh inning the game remained tied 1-1, forcing an extra inning.

A double by Lily Cuzzort brought Kaitlyn Williams in for what was the first of three Lady Wildcat runs in the top of the eighth.

A Hannah Triplett single to left field secured another run, bringing Cuzzort home.

Polk County pitcher Jordan Triplett finished things off with a double of her own that got Hannah Triplett around to home plate.

The Lady Bears weren’t able to steal away the win from the Lady Wildcats, and only managed to get one additional run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Lady Wildcats will travel to McMinn Central this evening for what they hope will be another district win. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 start.
