The Lady Wildcats defeated Sequoyah 7-0 as Jordan Triplett got her 13th pitching win.
In the first inning, Kaitlyn Williams got the first run of the game for Polk County after being brought home by Lily Cuzzort’s single to right field.
Lydia Triplett was able to add a second run before the inning was through.
The Lady Wildcats were held to those first two runs until the bottom of the fourth when their bats came to life again.
Jordan Triplett was able to make it home due to a couple Lady Chief miscues. During these errors, Felecia Johnson was able to get to scoring position on third base.
A double by Ashlynn Johnson drove in Felecia Johnson for a second run. Williams’ single was enough to get Johnson in.
A sacrifice fly from Cuzzort brought Williams in for another run, while Lydia Triplett made it home thanks to Hannah Triplett.
During the game, Sequoyah was only able to get a runner to third base once.
Jordan Triplett pitched the whole seven innings, striking out five Lady Chief batters while only walking one.
Polk County will travel to Meigs County tonight to take on the Lady Tigers at 5 p.m.
In the regular season the Lady Wildcats’ only district losses came at the hands of Meigs County, so the stakes will be high, as a region 3-AA berth is on the line.
