DECATUR — Polk County suffered its first district loss Wednesday evening at the hands of the Meigs County.

In a battle of the undefeated 5-AA teams, The Lady Tigers (6-0) were able to beat the normally hard-hitting Lady Wildcats 9-0.

Winning pitcher Chloe Grayson gave up only four hits during the game, while Jordan Triplett allowed 16.

Lily Cuzzort hit a double with one out left in the first inning, but Polk County (6-1) was unable to bring her in for a run before getting that third out.

Meigs was able to get its first run in the bottom of the first and then racked up four more in the third inning.

During the top of the fourth Lady Wildcat Emily Bates was able to make it to second, but was left on base by the end of the inning.

The Lady Tigers got two runs in the fourth and then scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Polk County’s best chance of scoring came in the seventh inning, when Bates was able to go from first to third on a wild pitch.

Meigs County will travel to Polk County this evening for a 5:30 first pitch, for what is the Lady Wildcats’ final district 5-AA game.
