Preston “P.D.” Ingle, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away early Thursday morning, Oct. 24, 1013, in a local health care facility.

He was the son of the late Fleta Ballard Ingle and Dallas Ingle. His sister, Clara Torrence and his brother, David Ingle also preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Sterchi/Heilig-Meyers Furniture as office manager with 49 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.

He was a longtime member of North Cleveland Church of God where he served as usher for more than 40 years and head usher for a number of years. He also worked in the church office after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Jaylene Ingle, of Cleveland; his son, Doug Ingle and his wife, Donna, of Cleveland; his grandchildren: Josh Ingle and his wife, Christin, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Julie McBride and her husband, George, of Cleveland and stepgrandchildren: Kel Stansell and his wife, Kristen; his great-grandchildren: Abby Ingle and Jeremiah and Josie Painter, and Kellar and Kensley Stansell; his brothers: Howard Ingle of Plano, Texas, George Ingle of Asheville, N.C., Jack Ingle of Arden, N.C., Reuben Ingle of Madison, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service was held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. from North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Chapel, with Pastor Cy Harris and the Rev. Cecil Guiles officiating.

Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Roger York, Don Young, Ed Brown, Ashley Smith, Franklin Lemons, Franklin Odom, Jimmy Wilson and Don Warrington serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were current and past North Cleveland Church of God ushers. Military honors were given. A dove release concluded the service.

The North Chapel of the funeral homes was in charge of arrangements.
