Preston Wheeler Sr., 92, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in a local health care facility.
He was the son of the late Arthur and Ruby Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Wanda Wheeler; brothers, William Wheeler and Verlon Wheeler, sister, Grace Cantrell; grandson, Charles Franklin “Chuck” Pigg; and great-grandson, Trent Wheeler.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded numerous ribbons and medals, including four bronze service stars.
He was retired from Magic Chef with more than 38 years of service. He was a member of Mount Olive Church of God. He was a loving husband and father, and always put God first.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda G. Pigg and her husband, Charles, of Plano Texas.; sons: Terry Wheeler and his wife, Phyllis of Lakeland, Fla., Larry Wheeler and his wife, Judi, of the Bottom, Texas, community, Preston Wheeler Jr. and his wife, Glenda, of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Sears and the Rev. Mike Delay officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
