The incident was apparently uncovered after a call from a female victim who stated the father of her child had gotten into a dispute regarding custody issues.
“She stated during that argument, the father displayed a black pistol, placing it in front of her face and telling her that ‘this is no joke!’” according to a report filed by Sheriff’s Office deputy Paul Silveria.
The woman reportedly had been held against her will. She then managed to get back to her car and left the scene and traveled to Charleston, then contacted officials.
The deputy noted the woman feared for her and her daughter’s lives.
According to Silveria, warrants were issued for the father’s arrest.
“Before the suspect was located, Cleveland Police Department received a call from a Virginia Avenue address in reference to an armed subject. Upon arrival, they found the suspect lying on the back porch,” noted Silveria.
The suspect had reportedly shot himself. Medical personnel from Bradley County Emergency Medical Service worked to save the man, but he reportedly died at Erlanger Medical Center.
