Rice, Cissom capture Member-Guest at CCC

Bob Rice and Brandon Cissom shot a combined 127 to win the Championship Flight of the 2012 Cleveland Country Club Member-Guest Tournament over the weekend.

Hugh Cantrell and Lee Cantrell earned second with a 130, and John Maupin and Tom Maupin earned third with a 131.

Taking first place in the first flight was Ken Melton and Larry Casteel, shooting a 130 and winning a playoff against Jack Williams and Kevin Raper, to decide the top two spots. Third place went to Andy Thompson and Jack Ramsey with a score of 131.

Wes Newman and Miles McDaniel took the top-spot in the second flight with a 134. Gene Rice and Trace Colson nabbed second with 138, and Chuck Blackmon and Terry Hildebrand finished third, shooting 140.

Third flight saw Chuck Beshears and Floyd Davidson finish in first with a 142. Heath Davis and Kevin Cantrell hit 143 for second-place honors, and Bill Burch and Richard Georgian hit a 144 for third.

Friday’s proximity prizes went to: Heath Sullivan (No. 6), Wes Nobles (No. 9), Heath Davis (No. 13) and Trace Colson (No. 17). Saturday proximity honors went to; Bryan Burger (No. 6), Gary Pelfrey (No. 9), Russ Meilstrup (No. 13) and Wes Newman (No. 17).

SETVH Golf Tournament

The team of Michael Clements, Randy Gibson, Matt Hadden and Ken Magnum finished in first place in the third annual Southeast Tennessee Veterans Home Council Golf Tournament at Chatata Valley Golf course.

Finishing in fifth place were Larry Jones, Randy Tinsley, Dustin Catlett and Darren Leaman. George Patten, Rick Shelton, Scott McDonald and Steve Huntsiger finished in ninth place.

Brad Smrcina shot a hole-in-one on No. 2 that earned him $500 in gifts. The Kawasaki Mule, offered by R&S Tractor, for a hole-in-one on No. 16 went unclaimed.

The annual tournament at Chatata is a fundraiser for activities at the proposed veterans’ home that is to be located on an estimated 28 acres at 1940 Westland Drive.
