He worked for the U.S. government Department of Defense for 10 years. He served with the U. S. Navy, and was a member of the American Legion Post 81, and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was of Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Kinder and Mary Ruth Wright Kinder; two sisters: Patsy Ruth Poteet and Jo Ann Southerland; and brother, James D. Kinder.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Adamson Kinder; children: Stephen Kinder of Cleveland; another son, wife and two grandchildren; grandchildren: Christopher Kinder, Emily Kinder, Marian Kinder, Lucas Kinder, Sam Kinder and Hannah Kinder; sister, Nancy Branam of Cleveland; brothers: John Kinder and Ralph “Buster” Kinder of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday, May 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Matt Brown, Christopher Kinder, Gaven Kinder, Blake Kinder, Mikel Kinder and Mark Maddux serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday May 3, 2012, at the funeral home.
