Robert E. Cabrera, 61, a resident of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at a Chattanooga health care Facility.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. and Frances Ash Cabrera; sisters: Janie Cabrera and Julie Southerland; and mother-in-law, Millie Browder.

He was known for his love of fishing, which his father introduced to him at a very young age; not only did he love catching fish but he also enjoyed creating and trying his own lures. He had a knack for finding the best fishing holes and knowing how to catch them. He loved to bring home his catch for “Momma” to fry up.

He was also an avid Nascar fan and could be found in front of the TV on race day. He was employed by Maytag for almost 20 years and was a member Union Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted, loving and caring wife, Charlotte Cabrera, who kept a close vigil near him during his entire struggle hospital stay. They would have celebrated 40 years together on April 18, 2013.

Also surviving are his daughters: Pam Cabrera and her husband, Jeremy Jackson, and Holly Kincaid; son, Robbie Cabrera, and his wife, Zenia; beloved grandchildren: Cariagan Cabrera, Travin Jackson, Lillian Cabrera and Libby Kincaid; loving siblings: David Cabrera and his wife, Joan, Tammy Hood, Michael Cabrera and his wife, Pam, Brian Cabrera and his wife, Sharon, all of Cleveland, Carolyn Cassidy and her husband, Willie, of Richmond, Va.; his father-in-law, Johnny Browder and his wife, Leona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Remembrance of Life service will be conducted at 7 this evening, April 14, 2013, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Richard Mason and Steve Sherlin officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until service time at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery.
