Robert Lee Davis, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.

A native of Chapel Hill, he attended Nathan Bedford Forrest School.

He was a member of the Standifer Gap Baptist Church and was retired from Duracell USA in Cleveland. He loved gardening and being able to share his vegetables with his friends and neighbors. He also loved fishing, football, basketball and westerns.

He was the son of the late Mordecai and Dena Mae Creek Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Della Thurman Davis; and his siblings: Daisy Eldridge, Bonnie Davis, Frank Davis, Kathleen Pugh, Maybell Adair and Lizzie Noblett.

Survivors include his son, Robert L. (Donna) Davis Jr.; daughter, Teena D. (Billy) Craig; grandson, B.J. Craig; brothers: Jessie Davis, Sam Davis, and Carl Davis; sisters: Frances Kitchen, Judy Foster, and Addie Youngblood; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved friend, Jackie Ford.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway, with the Revs. Wayne Loveless and Wayne Williams officiating.

Interment will be in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
