Derek Roberts will graduate as valedictorian. Caroline Jenkins will graduate as salutatorian.
Roberts, the son of Teresa and Keith Roberts, is graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He ran cross country for Polk County High School during his senior year. He has won awards in the Technology Student Association, Future Business Leaders of America and SkillsUSA for video and Web design. Roberts was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and the Beta Club for four years. He served as president of TSA, president of SkillsUSA and vice president of FBLA at the high school. He has also volunteered more than 200 hours with West Polk County Volunteer Fire Department.
Roberts plans to attend Vanderbilt University this fall and study engineering.
Jenkins, the daughter of Jason and Laura Jenkins, was the recipient of the Polk County Education Association scholarship. She was also the recipient of the Drug Store award for Future Career and Community Leaders of America and placed third in the TVA essay contest. She was a member of the National Honor Society, FCA, Pep Club and president of FCCLA. She played softball and made All-District for the last three years.
Jenkins plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and study child and family studies.
