The couple first knew each other as 4- and 5-year-old sweethearts, but had not seen each other for more than 66 years, until a meeting in 2010. In the meantime, the Rev. Robinson’s wife of 48 years and Mrs. Thompson’s husband of 38 years had both passed away.
Officiating the wedding were the bridegroom’s sons, the Rev. Jeffrey B. Robinson and Pastor Jeremy B. Robinson, as well as the bride’s pastor, the Rev. Bryan Cockrell.
The bride has two daughters, Crystal Bates and Renee Miles, and four grandchildren.
The bridegroom has two sons and five grandchildren.
A reception was given for the couple on June 10 at the Church of God International Offices, where the bridegroom serves as director of the Department of Business and Records.
After a wedding trip to New York City, the couple resides in Cleveland.
