CHATTANOOGA — Cleveland resident and Lee University signee Arturo Rocha led the way for the Tennessee high school soccer all-stars to take a win away from their Georgia rivals during the Tennessee vs. Georgia All-Star match on Saturday at Finley Stadium.

Rocha, a McCallie graduate, had a hand, or rather a foot, in both of Volunteer State’s goals, putting the first one through himself and finding Ooltewah’s Felipe Munoz for the win in the second half, he was named player of the match for Tennessee.

Also representing the area in the 2-1 Tennessee victory were Cleveland head coach John Brose, Raider forward Seth Goza and Bradley Central striker Miles Christian, who has signed with Bryan College.

Christian and Rocha were also recently honored with a Tennessee All-State boys’ team selection.

Also on Saturday, Tennessee won the football match-up Saturday by a 7-3 final over Georgia.

Future Tusculum College teammates Justin Houston and Patrick Benson were called on from the Bears to take part in the game, and Carson-Newman signee Henry McClendon from Cleveland was also selected.

The All-Star baseball game will take place this evening, weather permitting, at Ooltewah High School. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

Walker Valley’s Mustangs will be represented by Cleveland State signees Bobby Towne and Chris Caffrey, and the Bears will send Jordan Whitmire, who is heading to Bryan College, and Chase Wiseman.

Basketball will be played Tuesday evening at Notre Dame, with girls’ tip-off at 6 and the boys’ game at 7:30.

Bradley’s Hunter Chastain, who also signed with Bryan, will take part in the boys’ game. Lee University signees Caroline Smith and Kayla Beavers got the nod for the girls’ team.

Softball will wrap up the all-star games with a showdown on Wednesday, June 20 at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, starting at 6 p.m. Walker Valley’s Leslie Still, who signed with Cleveland State, will participate.
