He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid gun enthusiast. He was an active member of MENSA, when his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Scates Hall Blackwell; and mother, Frances Stinnett Blackwell.
He is survived by his father, Boe Blackwell of Cleveland; stepchildren: Stacey Sandifer and husband, Stephen, of Oklahoma City, and Patrick Hall of Chattanooga; one grandson, Riley Sandifer; two sisters: Mitzi Blackwell Thompson and husband, Jim, of Old Fort and Misty Blackwell Daniel and husband, Dennis, of Charleston; and nephews: Dr. Tyler Jones, Aaron Daniel and Brian Daniel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
