The Lake Forest Middle School boys basketball teams split a doubleheader with Bagley Middle School of North Georgia on Monday.
Lake Forest’s eighth-grade boys defeated Bagley, 46-38, with a strong first half.
Tucker Maroon scored all seven of his points over the first two quarters as Lake Forest Middle jumped ahead by 14, 27-13. Kiran Allen had 14 points for game honors, and added six rebounds and four steals. Jacob Hicks had 11 points and Matthew Maynard added nine points and nine rebounds. Lake Forest improved to 5-2 with the win.
Lake Forest’s seventh-grade boys dropped a 43-32 decision to Bagley, falling to 2-5 on the season. Brandon Thompson paced Lake Forest effort with 16 points ... half of his team’s total.
The Lake Forest teams will be at home Tuesday against Dalton (Ga.) Middle School.
Baylor 44,
OMS 7th 43
The Ocoee Middle seventh-grade basketball team dropped to 6-3 on the season with a tough 44-43 game to Baylor Monday night.
OMS led throughout the first half and had a 28-22 lead at the half. The Colts were down 36-35 going into the fourth quarter and cut the lead to one with a bucket by Peyton Hodges with 45 seconds remaining. OMS then missed a last-second shot at the buzzer to win it. The Baylor Redx Raiders are still undefeated at 6-0 on the season.
The Colts had three players in double figures with Josh Jones leading the way with 13 points, nine of which were in the second half. Wes Wagner and Peyton Hodges had 10 each with both hitting a pair of 3s on the night. Brice Gibson had four points while Ben Clark, Kylar Lynn and Avery Jones each scored two points.
The Colts play at Dalton on Thursday at 5 p.m. and again at home on Friday against CCS at 5:30 p.m.
CMS sixth-grade girls 50,
Lady Colts 41
The sixth-grade Cleveland Middle School Lady Raiders defeated the Ocoee Middl Lady Colts on Saturday 50-41.
Gabria Hubbard led Cleveland with 18 points. Sofia Stamatiadis tossed in 14, Regan Fuller and Lauren Lee chipped in nine and seven respectively.
Fuller stepped up on Saturday and pulled down several rebounds and helped the team offensively. Lee came off the bench and did a tremendous job defensively and offensively.
