He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Smith Sr.; his mother, Beulah Smith; his loving wife, Sylvia Smith; brothers: James A. Smith, Willie L. Smith and Richard L. Smith; and sister, Hattie Mae Brown.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving sister, Lucille Massengill; brother, Johnny Lee Smith, with whom he shared an unconditional love; his special niece, Amanda Dodd; five nephews: Charles Massengill, Edward Massengill, Thomas Brown, Jeffrey Brown and Anthony Massengill; one great-niece, Deshanda Massengill; four great-nephews; special friend, Robert Ware; and other relatives and friends, who will miss him very much. He was a loving brother, husband and uncle.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian who was dedicated to the work of his church. He provided transportation for anyone who needed a ride and would lend a helping hand in your time of need.
He was employed with Cleveland Foundry for more than 30 years until he became ill.
The body may be viewed Friday, March 29, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair St. S.E., Cleveland.
The family will received friends from noon until the service time at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013, at S.E. 2nd Street Church of Christ, 753 Howard Circle S.E., Cleveland. Brother Ronald L. Simmons will be the eulogist.
Interment will follow at the Charleston Community Cemetery.
