Roy A. Willhoit, Sr., 87, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
He was born April 7, 1927, to the late Aner and Ruby Willhoit.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde L. Willhoit and Rhoten Willhoit.
He loved his family and friends very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was a manager for BellSouth in the cable splicing department for more than 35 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was trained as a paratrooper in Fort Benning, Ga., and served on Okinawa.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Louise Willhoit; son, Roy A. (Janis) Willhoit Jr.; grandson, Roy Daniel Willhoit; great-grandchildren, Hannah Bailey Willhoit and Raegan Danielle Willhoit; nieces and nephews: Ruby Roettger, Mary Alice Neal, C.L. Willhoit, Clarence Willhoit, Bill Willhoit, Lynn Wood, Debbie McGill, Eddie Phillips and their families.
The funeral will be held Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m. in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, with the Rev. Steve Wood officiating.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Steve Harbison, Chris Harbison, C.L. Willhoit, Clarence Willhoit, Bill Willhoit and Gary Bradford serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 to 8 and Friday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
