Ruth Jeanette Freeman Day, 92, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
She was born on May 8, 1922, to the late Andrew Clay and Margaret Mae Freeman. She lived in the Cleveland area for the past 10 years.
She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church and loved attending service along with singing in the choir. She was a Sunday School teacher at her church in Illinois, prior to living in Cleveland. In addition to these, she also enjoyed shopping. Above all things, however, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with her family.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Day; one son, Dennis Day; two brothers: Richard Freeman and Ernie Freeman; and three sisters: Evelyn Freeman, Freeda Anderson and Eva Schwartz.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Janet Marcum; four grandchildren: Billy Marcum, Sondra Marcum Curry (Earl), Brenda Martin (Stan Edison) and Kevin Marcum (Brandy); and eight great-grandchildren: Christopher Arroyo, Maria Arroyo, Michael Rayburn, Dakota Martin, Kyra Martin, Earl Curry III, Owen Marcum and Lincoln Marcum.
A service for Jeanette will be held at 12 p.m. Monday July 7, 2014, at Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, 2415 Georgetown Road N.W, with Pastor William Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow the service in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home.
