YOUTH BASEBALL UMPIRES NEEDED

TRAVELING TEAM

A 13/14-under travel baseball team is forming for 2014 in Southeast Tennessee. Players must have at least played middle school ball to qualify. The traveling season will start after middle school ball is finished. For more information call Mark at (423) 715-5690.

GOLF

FRED LUPTON MEMORIAL

The inaugural Fred Lupton Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off April 11 at Chatta Valley Golf Club. Proceeds will go to provide scholarships to current and prospective students of Bachman Academy. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. The cost for the 2-person, select shot tournament is $75 per player and includes lunch. Hole sponsorships are available. PEERLESS GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Peerless Road Church will be hosting a golf tournament April 19 at Chatata Valley Golf Club. The four-man select shot event will tee off at 2 p.m., with a Chick-fil-A lunch to be served. Proceeds from the event are to benefit the church’s Mexico Missions Trip and Youth Ministry. The cost is $60 per person or $240 per team. TCPS GOLF CLASSIC

Tennessee Christian Preparatory School will honor the late Jim Rush at the 16th Annual Golf Classic May 5 at Cleveland Country Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will served at noon with tee time at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $125 per person or $500 for a team of four. The fee includes green fee, cart and lunch. There will be awards for first, second, eithth and 12th place. Contests will include putting, longest drivand closest to the pin. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. RUNNING

4TH ANNUAL DIXON DASH

The Polk County High School cross country teams will be hosting their 4th annual John Dixon Dash at Gee Creek Campground on April 26th. There will be a 1 mile fun run at 9 a.m. and a 5K run/walk at 10. If you pre-register by April 12th the cost is $20.00 and the race day fee is $25.00. Each pre-registered runner will receive a t-shirt and a limited supply of shirts will be available on race day. Proceeds benefit the PCHS cross country teams. KAY MCDANIEL TENNIS CLINIC

Registration for the Kay McDaniel Tennis Clinics will begin April 1 and run unitl the clinic is full. Of the original 400 spots, only 50 remain open. Boys and girls ages 6-13 of any skill level are able to participate in the clinics for no cost. The clinics will run from June 2-6, with the girls’ clinics going from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and the boys’ clinics going from 10:30 to noon.
