Season ends for Polk boys

CHATTANOOGA — The Polk County Wildcats were handed a 73-29 loss by the Tyner Academy Rams in the Region 3-AA quarterfinal on Saturday night.

The Rams charged through the first quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 23-9 in those opening eight minutes.

Polk was only able to make one basket in the second quarter, which came from Bryce Coffey with 52 seconds left. Tyner, on the other hand, was able to net 15 more points.

Trailing 38-11 at the start of the second half, the Wildcats were seemingly helpless as the Rams continued with their barrage of the net.

In the third quarter Tyner added 21 points to its score, while Polk was only able to get eight more points.

The Rams finished off the game outscoring the Wildcats 14-10 in the fourth quarter.

Devin Weber led Polk in scoring with 11 points, which included three 3-pointers. Cody Groomes finished with eight points, which included a pair of treys.

The Wildcats finished the season with an overall record of 8-22.
