Talk about going out in style, the Bradley Central soccer seniors did just that Tuesday night with convincing victory in their final home game of the 2010 campaign. After having to delay the start of the match due to a wreck on the interstate preventing some of the Signal Mountain team and the game officials from getting to Cleveland on time, the Bears controlled the action to post a 7-0 shutout of the Eagles.

“We put together what we have been working on all season and the team really put on a show for the crowd,” Bradley head coach Chrissy McKinney assessed. “I’m really proud of these seniors and what they’ve done for the Bradley program.”Now 4-8-2 after the Senior Night blowout, the Bears will travel to Sequoyah Thursday for a make up game before opening District 5-AAA Tournament action Friday evening in Soddy-Daisy. Bradley is the event’s No. 5 seed, while the Trojans are fourth. The winner will face top-seeded Cleveland at the first of the week.

Senior Jonny Davis netted four goals in Tuesday evening’s victory, including the match’s first goal at the 13:45 mark. Davis added another goal just under 10 minutes later after making a strong move near the end line and firing a shot from a tough angle. The ball struck the far post and deflected into the goal.Sophomore Miles Christian added a pair of goals, including one on a free kick, while senior Tyler Brock netted the other Bear score.

“We did a good job defensively as well and Cesar Resindez only had to make a couple of saves,” Coach McKinney explained.

“Tyler Maroon headed up our defense for the first half and part of the second and then we swapped him and Miles,” she added. “Tyler does a great job and doesn’t get enough credit.”
