The location of Friday evening’s women’s soccer scrimmage match featuring the Lee Lady Flames and Columbus State has been moved to the Greater Cleveland Soccer Complex on Mouse Creek Road. The event is still slated for a 6 p.m. start.

Lee coach Matt Yelton said the scrimmage was relocated to the site because the Lee Soccer Field has recently been resodded and more time is needed before the surface will be ready for game-type action. “We are very fortunate to have a facility as nice as Mouse Creek to use as a backup while our field takes a few more weeks to prepare for the upcoming season,” said Yelton.

Yelton is anxious to watch his defending NAIA national champions go up against a strong opponent from the NCAA Division II ranks. The Lady Flames will be pitted against a full Gulf South (D-2) schedule in 2013-14. This season, however, the Lady Flames will be in their final year of NAIA play and will be pushing toward a fifth-straight national crown. The squad lost only one starter from last season’s club, but that was the two-time NAIA Player of the Year, Jamie Achten.

The Lady Flames have one more scrimmage planned for next Wednesday at7p.m., when another NCAA Division II opponent, Young Harris, Ga., comes calling.
