An Employment Assistance Workshop is scheduled in Knoxville May 8-10 for National Guard members, reservists and all veterans and military spouses. The workshop is completely free to participants.

The event starts May 8, at 1 p.m. at the Cokesbury Center, 9915 Kingston Pike. Seats are limited and those interested are urged to pre-register by emailing Joe Thomas at joseph.c.thomas2@us.army.mil or call 615-613-5773.

“It’s a great opportunity for military back from deployment as well as for all veterans,” said Marvin Wells, National Guard Bureau employer support specialist. “They finish with a resume in hand and ready to interview with employers who value the many qualities a reservist can bring to a company.”

The focus is on analyzing skills veterans attained through the military, strengths and weaknesses, effective job search strategies, writing resumes and cover letters, mock interviews, the job-search process, researching companies, analyzing want ads and completing application forms.

The workshop is available to unemployed individuals and those who are underemployed.
