Special Olympics athletes who compete in the equestrian events learn to ride, develop sports skills and gain the self confidence to direct and control a horse. Athletes in this area will participate in Dressage and Horsemanship.
Though it is not all about the winning, riders will be competing for their chance at moving on to the state competition held Oct. 5 at Saddle Up in Franklin.
Tri-State is teaming up with the Barn Closet Clothing Exchange to fit the riders in equestrian gear. Volunteers are needed to make this event a success for the participants.
“If you or your service group would like to come out and help, we would really appreciate it,” said Denise Wright, Therapeutic Riding Center director. “It is such a rewarding day for everyone involved.”
If you want to register a child for the event, or volunteer to help, contact Denise at email@example.com or call 423-339-2517.
