Stanley Waters, 90, of Georgetown, died in a local hospital Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
He was born May 2, 1923, in Oshkosh, Wis., to the late William and Katherine (Porte) Waters.
He served his country during World War II in the army as a Tec 3 SGT on April 14, 1942.
He married the love of his life Gertrude Mueller. He worked at A.D.T. until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Gertrude Waters of Georgetown; one son, Stanley Waters Jr. of Redgranite, Wis.; three daughters: Charyl Severson (Joel) of Oregon, Wis., Gloria Klemp (Greg) of Neshkoro, Wis., and Debra Gravell (Jon) of Georgetown; six grandchildren: Stanley III, Greg Jr., Gina Koston, Jason, Jeremy, and Jared Gravell; and brother, William Waters Jr. (Sandy) of Savannah.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters: Raymond, Dolly, Eloise, Frank, Bob, Myrtle, Leroy, Marcella, Phyllis and Doris.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
