A Charleston police officer has resigned amid alligations of misconduct.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is in charge of the case involving the Charleston police officer.

An anonymous tip to the TBI was what got investigators looking into allegations against officer Adam Fondren, 31, according to 10th Judicial District assistant attorney general Stephen Hatchett.

“There were allegations of misconduct involving a minor,” Hatchett said.

Hatchett also said the alleged victim is 17-years-old.

Charleston Police Chief Hank Hayden said his department is cooperating in the investigation with the TBI and the District Attorney General’s Office.

Hayden said Fondren had recently graduated from Cleveland State Community College’s Police Academy and had only been on the job as a Charleston officer for a few weeks.

TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm confirmed the investigation had been conducted, but could not provide any other information.

“The investigation is complete and a charging decision will be made based on the law and the evidence,” Hatchett said.
