The third annual Tennessee Small Business Development Center Rising Star Awards event this year will be a breakfast held on Sept. 25, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce located at 225 Keith St., S.W., in Cleveland.

TSBDC is offering a complimentary breakfast as the organization honors the 2012 award winner. But this year’s winner will not be announced until the breakfast.

A trophy will be given to the winner which can be displayed at the winning business.

“Rising Star honorees are chosen based on a variety of factors,” said David Hudson, TSBDC director.

Rising Star Awards are given to area businesses based on the recent phenomenal growth of the business, the various TSBDC programs the business has completed, as well as the business’ involvement in the local community, such as in area school and Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce projects.

Registration is required.

Since the beginning of this year, 300 clients have been helped by the TSBDC.

“We assist not only starting businesses but also established businesses with a variety of services ranging from business plans to marketing to preparing clients for business loan applications,” Hudson said.

This year’s clients who have received helped from TSBDC have themselves invested $13 million back into the area served by the organization, Hudson added. These same businesses have created 139 new jobs during that same time period.
