Teddy L. Polakiewicz, 90, a resident of Chatsworth Ga., formerly of Cleveland, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army and was a Purple Heart recipient from injures he received during the war. He retired from Fort Polk Army Base in Leesville, La., in 1984.
He attended Saint Therese Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was active with the Local VFW and the American Legion in Dalton, Ga. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all he touched. May angels fly thee home.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Kowalski Polakiewicz; daughters: Pauline Hebert of Chatsworth, Diane Soto of Cleveland, Colette Polakiewicz of Chatsworth, Michele Davenport of Chattanooga and Terry Bramlett and her husband, Michael, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Andrea Franks, James Hebert, Claudia Salyer, Joey Soto, Chloe Polakiewicz and Michaela Bramlett; great-grandchildren: Mason Salyer, Emilie Franks, Kylie Soto and Collin Heatherman; and one sister, Florence Lelito of Orchard Park, N.Y.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will also celebrate Mass Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church.
There are no formal visitation times.
