Terry Lee Messer, 57, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in a Nashville hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Messer.

He was a former employee as a corrections officer with the Bradley County Sheriffs Department and was studying with Springplace Road Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs witnesses.

Survivors include his mother, Bobbie Mullins of Cleveland; his sons: Jason Messer of Chattanooga, Brett Messer of Charleston and Joey Spangler Jr. of Dalton; two sisters: Patricia Thomas of Cleveland and Lita Messer of Charleston; and several nephews and many many friends.

A Remembrance of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service time.
