The award-winning comedy troupe will perform Thursday at 7 p.m. at Conn Center on the Lee University campus. This unique combination of comedy writers, directors and businesspeople from around the country work together to create a funny, smart, authentic take on work and life.
The hilarious show of original songs, sketch comedy and pop parodies has been presented Off-Broadway and won the 2009 Spotlight Award for Ensemble Entertainer of the Year.
Nancy Casson, president of the Cleveland-Bradley Concert Association, said, “We are offering the community something different. It is a comedy routine. Reports from concertgoers in other cities have commented (that it is an) excellent concert, quality entertainment, wonderful talent, witty and musically well presented.”
“Do you ever feel like you have all your eggs in one basket — you’re juggling six items in the air and have 7,000 emails to answer? Well, gather around the Water Coolers for a high energy, laugh-out-loud evening of award-winning song-and-sketch comedy. After all it is your life, but killer funny,” said the promoters.
With original music and parodies of familiar songs, on-point material about life and work, and superior comedy writing, the cast of five New York comics and singers with piano accompaniment celebrate the insanity of everyday life.
The Water Coolers feature cast members whose resumes include performances at the top comedy clubs like the Improv, the Comic Strip, Igby’s, The Broadway Comedy Club and in Broadway touring productions of “Rock of Ages,” “Spamalot” and “Wicked.”
The Water Coolers, who debuted in New York in 2000, and opened Off-Broadway in the fall of 2002, is that rare ensemble that can turn headaches and hassles into wholesome hilarity.
Tickets for the show are $20 per person or you may purchase a $40 ticket that is good for the Water Coolers and for the performance of the Chinese Acrobats on April 30. Student tickets are $10.
Tickets are available at the door or you may order in advance or get more information about the concerts by calling 473-1114 or 715-5662.쇓
