Thomas “Pete” Sherlin, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at the family residence.
He was born on April 25, 1935, in McDonald, a son of the late Roy Thomas and Ada Marie Sherlin.
He was of the Church of God faith and a very gifted carpenter by trade.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Sherlin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda; son, Keith Sherlin; daughter and son-in-law, Chrystal and Wayne Massingill of Harrison; two grandchildren, Logan Massingill and Jacob Massingill, both of Harrison; brothers, Carl Sherlin and Gerald (Faye) Sherlin, both of McDonald; and sisters: Wilma “Sis” Goode of McDonald and Oneida Earls of Cleveland.
The funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Bancroft Church of God, 870 Bancroft Road N.W., McDonald, with the Rev. Mitchell Wilson and Brothers Steve Sherlin and Waymon Howard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bancroft Cemetery with Donald Goodwin, Roy Sherlin, Micheal Sherlin, C.J. Sherlin, Terry Massingill, and Wayne Massingill serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at church from 5 to 9 this evening. The body will also lie in repose one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
