Toni Mantooth Hewitt, 58, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 18, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Bessie Mae Nelson Mantooth and Johnnie Carl Mantooth. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Wilma Mantooth and Evelyn Mantooth.

She worked as a substitute teacher for the Bradley County Schools system. She worked many years for Shreve Ministries as a prayer intercessor.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed praying and reading her Bible. The best way to sum up her life is to say she was a committed and a dedicated person, committed and dedicated to God to the proclamation of his word and to her family that she loved so dearly. She was truly a bright light shining in a dark world. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She was a member of The Church of God at Southside.

Survivors include her husband, James Darrell Hewitt of Cleveland; her daughters: Christine Hewitt of Cleveland and Elaine Hewitt Morrison and her husband, Charlie, of Rocky Face, Ga.; her son, David Hewitt and his wife, Deanna, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Trey Dunn, Kaitlyn Hewitt and Kristyn Hewitt; her sisters: Mary Louise Sprinkle of Adairsville, Ga., and Billie Conner of Forsythe, Mont.; special friend, Edna Marlene Parton, her church family and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Mike Shreve and Pastor Roger Ammons officiating.
