The Region 3 wrestling tournament could see another rematch between two of the top programs in the state when the opening whistle blows this afternoon in Crossville.

The tournament is slated to get under way beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Stone Memorial High School. Saturday’s round will get under way at noon with the championship and consolation finals starting at 4. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament in Franklin beginning Feb. 17.

The Bradley Central Bears and Cleveland Blue Raiders, ranked No. 2 and No. 5 in the latest prep wrestling poll, which includes Division II teams, and the Walker Valley Mustangs will send 28 seeded wrestlers to Crossville.

The Mustangs have three seeded wrestlers, Tyrus Hamrick, No. 3 at 112 pounds, Hunter Davis, No. 3 at 125, and Cole Dias, No. 1 at 145, filling out the complement of local wrestlers looking to fill one of the top four positions.

Bradley and Cleveland enter the region tournament with the most wrestlers seeded No. 1 with six apiece.

For the Raiders, Austin Stevison (103), Austin Oliver (112), Marvin Lopez (135), Aaron Lopez (140), Isaiah Nichols, (160) and Jesse Jones (189) hold the top spots.

The Bears will send Aaron Hutson (119), Ethan Hames (125), Jericho Crutcher (130), Bradley Colbaugh ((152), Tucker Bolton (215) and Patrick Benson (285) to the meet as No. 1 seeds along with Walker Valley’s Dias.

In the No. 2 positions are six more Bears, Dakota Bromley (103), Jacob Climer (112), Tyler Schuch (135), Tyler Pitts (140), Blake Jackson (145) and Jacob Bailey (160).

Cleveland sends Caleb Langford (119) and Haden Hamilton (125) to Crossville as No. 2 seeds.

The Raiders’ Brandon Strickland (130) and Seth Snyder (215) along with the Mustangs’ Hamrick (112) and Davis (125) are also in as No. 3 seeds.

A tournament pass is $15. Regular admission is $7 per session for adults and $4 for students. A Saturday only pass is available for $10.
