Tracy Jane Higdon Sliger, 47, of the Short Creek Community near Athens, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 6, 2012, at her residence.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Riceville.

She was a former employee of American Uniform and Exel.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Paul S. Sliger, of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Zac Hamilton of Calhoun, Johnny Sliger of Athens; special girlfriend, Shelbey Smith of Soddy-Daisy; father and stepmother, Ernest and Frances Higdon of Farner; mother and stepfather, Thelma and Gene Padgett of Chatsworth, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law: Beth Higdon of Etowah, and Joyce and Don Bishop of Cohutta, Ga.; stepsisters and spouses: Jeania and Chase Springfield of Cohutta, Renee and Mickey Henderson of Dalton, Ga., and Carol and Bill Thomasson of Farner; brother, Dennis Higdon of Cleveland; stepbrothers and spouses: Anthony and Crystal Worthy of Farner, Timothy and Alisha Worthy of Farner and Greg Worthy of Farner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donnie and Robin Sliger of Athens; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Mike Guffey of Athens; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willis and Frankie Sliger of Athens.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. 2012, at Short Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Lewis and Garry King officiating.

Interment will be in Short Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Ingram, Jeff Pittman, D.J. Sliger, Blake Higdon, Ross Sneed, Jerry Boyd, Bubba Kelley and Randy Moss. Honorary pallbearers will be management and staff of Thunder Ridge Raceway.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, In care of Faye Forgety, 120 County Road 447, Athens TN 37303, or Hospice of Chattanooga.
