According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, just after 1:30 Sunday morning, a man entered the Kangaroo Market located at the intersection of Trewhitt and Spring Place Road and asked the store’s clerk to activate a fuel pump.
After the clerk responded the man walked to his car and allegedly retrieved a shotgun and returned inside the store to make demands for money.
Scott E. Poole, 44, of Old Fort, was arrested later after reports of a single-vehicle car crash on Trewhitt Road.
Deputies responded to the Kangaroo Market and began questioning the clerk who had described the suspect’s vehicle.
Deputies found the vehicle involved in the crash and found it was registered to Poole, according to Gault.
Richard Taylor and his K-9 tracker were dispatched to the scene and reportedly located Poole a short time later.
Poole was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, theft over $500 and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Gault said Poole is currently held at the Bradley County Jail.
