Tuohy is the sister of professional football player Michael Oher and a member of the family featured in the 2009 Academy Award-nominated movie, “The Blind Side.”
The majority of the proceeds from Dinner with Collins Tuohy will benefit local organizations, including Bradley County’s ongoing disaster relief efforts.
The evening will begin with a private meet-and-greet reception with Tuohy at 5:30 p.m. before the regular festivities begin at 7 p.m. A silent auction will take place during the cocktail hour from 5:45 to 6:55 p.m., followed by a five-star dinner, program, and live auction featuring exciting vacation spots, hunting trips, entertainment events, outdoor adventures, and rare coins and guns.
“The Blind Side’s” storyline features Oher, an offensive lineman who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League.
The film follows Oher from his impoverished upbringing, through his years at Wingate Christian School (a fictional representation of Briarcrest Christian School in the suburbs of Memphis), his adoption by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, and his position as one of the most highly coveted prospects in college football.
At the podium, Collins takes audiences through her journey with Oher from fellow student to close friend, confidant, and ultimately, adoptive sister.
“We’re telling people Dinner with the Collins Tuohy is the place to be Aug. 25,” said Andy Anderson, Gala coordinator. “It promises to be a night to remember with a captivating speaker in an elegant setting topped off with a delicious meal.”
Anderson gave special credit to Larry Hill Ford for its diamond sponsorship of the event.
“We’re extremely grateful to Larry Hill Ford,” Anderson said. “In the three years in which the club has coordinated the gala, we’ve never had a diamond sponsor. It’s an honor and a privilege to have Larry Hill Ford associated with our event.”
Corporate sponsorships include a reserved table for eight, and an invitation to the private reception with Tuohy. During this time, a professional photographer will take keepsake pictures with the speaker. Corporate sponsors also will be listed in all advertising and materials promoting the event. Individual tickets are also available.
