Two people were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft after they allegedly posed as residents at the victim’s property.
Bradley County Sheriff’s deputy Kevin Chastain responded to Countrywood Drive on a suspicious person/theft in progress call.
Neighbors had told 911 dispatchers a black pickup truck was backed up to a storage building beside Jeff Lawson’s home.
When Chastain arrived on the scene, he made contact with Celena M. Hensley, 39, and Bobby D. Grissom, 40.
Both were inside the home at the time of initial contact, according to Chastain.
The pair reportedly told Chastain they had been living at the residence “a few days,” according to the report.
Contact was made with Lawson, who stated “neither Grissom or Hensley had permission to be at his home.”
Officials located pry marks on the door where entry had been made by the alleged suspects.
Further investigation revealed a riding mower and other items had been taken from the storage building and were in the back of the pickup truck, according to the report.
Grissom and Hensley were arrested and taken to the Bradley County Jail, where they were booked on the charges.
• An HVAC unit was stolen from a house located on Spring Place Road.
Marty Quinn, a caretaker of the property owned by HSBC Inc., said he went to the property and found someone had taken the unit from the house. An electric meter had also been removed but it was found in the back yard.
Quinn told deputy Tim Bohannon he believed the incident occurred sometime last week.
Quinn reported the theft Tuesday.
Criminal Investigations Division detective Rob Wilson responded to the scene to collect evidence.
According to the report, the HVAC unit was valued at $4,000.
Investigation is continuing.
• A Rolex watch was among items missing from a home on Bates Pike.
According to a report filed by deputy Travis Greene of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Charlette Howard said a man’s diamond and sapphire ring, a 14-karat gold Rolex watch, two women’s wedding bands, two men’s wedding bands, three emerald rings, a diamond tennis bracelet, a pearl necklace and earrings, and a ruby ring were missing from her home.
The report noted a suspect was established and CID detectives are following up on information.
The missing jewelry was valued at $13,750.
