Peter Mallen, 67, was also president of Mallen Industries in Norcross, Ga., according to information obtained by Atlanta news sources.
Margaret Schenck, vice president of operations for United Knitting, confirmed Mallen was president of the company, which manufactures textiles.
Brittany McAuley, 23, was also aboard the aircraft when it crashed “not long after takeoff” from Fulton County Airport, according to a published report from the Federal Aviation Administration and the local fire department.
Mallen was reportedly piloting the twin-engine Raytheon 390 Premier I jet.
The plane crashed in a wooded area near a neighborhood, then caught fire.
According to reports, the plane piloted by Mallen was bound for New Orleans.
