Response has been strong to our newspaper’s inaugural Reader’s Choice 2012 initiative in which participants have the unique opportunity to vote for the “Best of Bradley County” in more than 170 categories.

So here’s a reminder. Voting wraps up Friday at 5 p.m.

If you have a favorite restaurant, vote!

If you have a favorite automotive dealership, vote!

If you have a favorite bank, vote!

If you have a favorite clothing retailer, vote!

If you have a favorite grocer, vote!

If you have a favorite boss, vote!

If you have a favorite law firm, vote!

If you have a favorite plumber, vote!

If you have a favorite electrician, vote!

If you have a favorite school, vote!

If you have a favorite church or worship center, vote!

If you have a favorite community leader, vote!

If you have a favorite ... person, vote!

And, the ballot includes a space to vote for “Best Overall Business in Bradley County.”

The full-page ballot has been published in the Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday editions of the Cleveland Daily Banner for the past 1 1/2 weeks. It will be published for a final time in Thursday’s issue.

Readers are responding en masse so we’ll offer up these reminders and helpful suggestions as you prepare to mark your ballot.

- Entry deadline is Friday, May 18, at 5 p.m.

- Completed ballots may be hand-delivered to our office at 1505 25th St., or mailed to: Cleveland Daily Banner, P.O. Box 3600, Cleveland, TN 37320.

- No photocopies will be accepted; only newspaper forms from the Banner can be counted in the voting.

- Readers may vote more than one time.

- Voters should complete as much of the name as possible within each category (i.e. first and last names when voting for people, or full business name when identifying a merchant).

- If voting for a business with multiple locations, indicate which site or store on the ballot.

- The names of each winner in all categories receiving votes will be published in a special edition scheduled for print in June.

By completing an accompanying entry form included on the ballot, voters will have their names automatically entered in a drawing for a dining gift card for two. This is just the Banner’s way of saying thank you for participating.

Voters are reminded not to clip the entry form out of the full-page ballot. They should be left intact and submitted together.

General categories include People, Automotive, Services, Shopping and Restaurants. But more than 170 sub-categories will give voters plenty of opportunity to shine a spotlight on those you believe do an exemplary job in our Cleveland and Bradley County hometown. They can be individuals, businesses, a professional service, a retailer, a grocer, a big merchant, a tiny mom and pop shop, a lodging establishment, a doctor, a lawyer or any number of groupings. The point is, if you think they exemplify pride in community, quality customer service and are excellent role models for “The City With Spirit,” we urge you to mark your ballot and to return it to us by no later than end-of-business on Friday.

It’s not complicated.

It’s not intense.

It’s not difficult to understand.

It’s just some down-home fun that will go a long way in helping deserving recipients feel good about themselves, the work they do and their impact on community.

Reader’s Choice 2012 is a people recognition whose time has come.

It’s all about Cleveland and Bradley County and the “Best” that our hometown has to offer.

We urge your vote.

But do it quickly!
