It may be the Year of the Quarterback on Raider Field locally, but it is also the Year of the Quarterback nationally and worldwide on the ESPN network.

ESPN will be airing its “The Year of the Quarterback: Elite 11” regional competition show on Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. The second part of the two-part segment will air Aug. 19 in the same time slot.

Cleveland QB Chad Voytik will be featured prominently in both episodes after finishing fifth out of 24 nationally touted field generals in what is regarded as the nation’s premier high school quarterback competition.

Ironically, Voytik will be forced to set the timer on his DVR for both events since his day job will require him to be “in the office” during both showings.

“I will be at the jamboree (for the first one), so I will watch it after. The following Friday when it comes on, I’m going to the Bradley game. I’ll watch it later,” said the Cleveland QB.

Having to wait to see the nationally aired recap of the quarterback battles doesn’t phase the red-hot talent in the least. Not when it comes to leading his team and checking out the competition for upcoming battles between the goal lines.

“It’s exciting I’m going to be on ESPN and all that, but I know other things are more important,” he said.

Of the “The Year of the Quarterback,” the ESPN website says, “This yearlong initiative will cover the lives and careers of quarterbacks from high school to the NFL, providing an in-depth examination of one of the most critical, coveted and talked-about positions in all of sports.”
