W.T. Garrett, 63, a resident of Cleveland, died Thursday morning, April 19, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was the son of the late Henry and Dessie Howard Garrett. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Leigh Garrett.

He was very passionate about cars. He was a member of the Southeast Street Toys car club and was very proud of his show car, a 2010 Camaro SS. He loved to travel and was an avid antique gun and knife collector, but most of all he was more passionate about loving and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a retired brick mason who owned Garrett Masonry for years.

He attended New Liberty Baptist Church in Birchwood.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Garrett; son, William Henry Garrett of Cleveland; stepdaughter, Karen Hancock and her husband, Sonny, of Ooltewah; five grandsons; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Evelyn Lackey of Georgetown and Sue Hudson of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the North Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. James Hutchings officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with members of the Southeast Street Toys Car Club serving as active and honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
