RINGGOLD, Ga. — The Walker Valley golf teams went south of the border Tuesday to continue their strong season, notching two more District 5-AAA victories in Northwest Georgia.

Still unbeaten at 9-0, the Mustangs knocked off 2012 TSSAA state-tournament participant East Hamilton by 154-161 tally, while the 10-1 Lady Mustangs got a walk as there is only one Lady ’Cane golfer.

Playing the Windstone Golf Club course, Coach Bob Williams’ Stallions were led by sophomore Dylan Lillard, who shot an even-par 36 half round to earn low-medalist honors.

Corey Rollins, also a 10th-grader, helped out with a 2-over 38, while juniors Kyle Limberg and Ira Lee both carded 40s to round out the winning total.

Tucker Venable topped the Hurricane effort with a 1-over 37, while Ian Newman fired a 39. Logan Price and Matt Wilson posted a 41 and 44 respectively.

Senior Kassey Gregg had the low score among the girls with a 4-over 40, while freshman Kelsey Cassada shot a 45. Sophomore Katie Medley was right there with her teammates with a 46.

Madalyn Hembree had a 47 for the lone EH score in the girls competition.

The Mustangs traveled to Manchester this morning to participate in the WillowBrook Boys’ Tournament and will head atop Lookout Mountain on Thursday to face McCallie.

Both Walker Valley squads will be back in action on Tuesday as they face Ooltewah at the Bear Trace course.
