Wanda Faye Gibbs, 69, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in a local hospital.

Her mother, Ruth Green Waters preceded her in death.

She traveled and sang with her family group, “The Gibbs Family,” for 47 years, singing Southern gospel music. She enjoyed playing the guitar and being with her family. She attended the Baptist church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Thidora Gibbs of Cleveland; daughter, Darlene Young and her husband, Randel, of Cleveland; sons: Darrell Gibbs and his wife, Tessie, of Cleveland, Steve Gibbs and his wife, Teresa, of Crandall, Ga. and James Gibbs and his wife, Robin, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Anthony Young and his wife, Nora, Mickey Young and his fiancée, Sarah Daniels, Abby Gibbs and Jennifer Cooper and her husband, Dencil; and great-grandchild, Maddox Cooper; father, Eldon Waters of Cleveland; sister, Barbara Morgan and her husband, Joe, of Cleveland; and brother, Hershel Waters and his wife, Rita, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16. 2011, from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. David Bowers and James Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cohulla Baptist Church Cemetery with Lonnie Bridges, Joe Morgan Jr., David Carty, John Smith, Lamar Waters and Ronnie Waters serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Cochran and Jeff Beshears.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
