Cleveland’s Mosby Park Waterdogs got their summer swim season started on the right side of the pool with a season opening 412-311 victory over the Fort Oglethorpe (Ga.) Marlins at Mosby Park.

The meet marked the first official competition for the Waterdogs after moving up to the red division in the Chattanooga Area Swim League.

Several Waterdogs had great showings. High scorers include Julie Bryant and Christian Torbet with 19 points and Bristol Snider with 18 points.

Luke Hunt and Tanya Sharma helped with 15 points, while Maya Sharma, Andre Parker and Alex Morrow added 14 points apiece.

Davina Sharma and Katie Estes contributed 13 points to the victory. Mason Cross and Hanna Keller posted a dozen points for the Waterdogs.

Caiden Cross, Jesse Badger, Anna Harvey and Olivia Torres finished with 11 points apiece.

“Even though their highly competitive swimmers had a great meet, the mentors’ and instructors’ hearts lie with the new swimmers that they help every day. They donate their time each day to work with the new swimmers and they legitimately enjoy helping them and watching them grow as swimmers.

“They are constantly cheering, encouraging and loving on everyone in the Waterdog family,” team representatives said in a statement.

Next up for the Waterdogs is a showdown against crosstown rival the Cleveland Aqua Tigers. The meet will be Monday at 6 p.m., at the Tinsley Park Pool.
